Hook Wins FTW Title On AEW Dynamite

The belt his father created

Hook is the new FTW champion, after defeating Team Taz stablemate Ricky Starks on AEW's Fight For the Fallen edition of Dynamite on Wednesday night in Worcester, MA.

Starks had just retained the title in a brief match against Danhausen when he issued an open challenge, saying he had enough energy left to defend the title once more. This brought out Hook as a surprise challenger.

In another brief match, Hook countered Starks' Roshambo into the Redrum (Tazmission). Starks tried to roll out of the move, but Hook held on, forcing Starks to tap out.

After the match, Hook fist-bumped a dejected Starks before leaving. Following the commercial break, Starks cut an impassioned promo about making the most of new opportunities, only to suddenly get laid out by teammate Powerhouse Hobbs.

Starks' reign as FTW champion ends after 378 days. He won the title on July 14 last year from former Team Taz teammate Brian Cage on night one of AEW's 2021 Fyter Fest.

For Hook, it's his first championship reign of any sort in wrestling. Father Taz is the creator of the belt, and a former two-time champion.
