While he hasn't wrestled for the promotion in over 18 months, Ortiz has revealed that he has been working behind the scenes in All Elite Wrestling as a producer/coach, and he has around one year left on his deal with the company.
"As of right now, I have about a year left with the company. Give or take on this current contract. I would love to stay there. I love working at AEW. I've been coaching and doing producing, which is learning a different skill and will give you longevity. It's also making me be a better wrestler because I'm helping people call matches and I'm analysing it from a different lens. I'm really enjoying that. It's something I wanted to do anyway, and now I'm getting the opportunity to do it there. Even if I stay on purely to do coaching and producing, and I can still wrestle, I'm happy. If they keep me, I would stay," Ortiz told Wormbreezy.
The 34-year-old has been a part of AEW since All Out 2019, when he debuted alongside former tag team partner Santana. Ortiz took time off from AEW in January 2024 due to suffering a torn pectoral muscle during a tag match with Eddie Kingston against Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli.
Ortiz has since recovered from the injury but he has not wrestled for AEW. He has competed on the indies, however, working 11 matches since March of this year.
