JONAH’s in-ring debut and more

Matt Cardona was not in a good mood to open up IMPACT, bemoaning the events that transpired at Turning Point, before IMPACT World Champion moose made his presence felt. Moose belittled Cardona and wrote him off as a ‘career mid-carder’, but the Million Dollar Broski was having none of it, peppering the champ with strikes before W. Morrissey ran down to help administer a two-on-one beatdown on Cardona. Eddie Edwards made the save, setting up a big tag match for the main event.

The main event itself was dominated by the heels, who cut off Cardona and Edwards at points, and administered a lot of punishment. However, Cardona used his veteran smarts to pull off the win, catching Moose with a surprise roll-up, presumably cementing a title feud between the two. W. Morrissey wasn’t impressed, and took his frustrations out on Moose, folding the champ with a big boot and ending their alliance..

The imposing JONAH (fka Bronson Reed) made his IMPACT in-ring debut, making short work of Jai Vidal, before taking the mic and calling out Josh Alexander. JONAH said he’s ‘the top dog’ and even though Josh Alexander is ‘the best wrestler in the world’ he’ll have to prove it against him, before he makes his way over to Moose.

Chris Sabin took on Matthew Rehwoldt in singles action as Deonna Purrazzo watched from ringside, and despite Purrazzo’s best efforts, Sabin got the win with the Cradle Shock, after Knockouts Champion Mickie James played the great equaliser ahead of their title match at Hard to Kill on January 8.

Tenille Dashwood returned, with Madison Rayne and Kaleb (with a K) informing Dashwood that The IInspiration are now in IMPACT. But far from being mad, Dashwood was overjoyed, embracing McKay and Lee as Rayne looked left out.

Willie Mack and Rich Swann teamed up once more to take on VBD, and despite getting worked over by Eric Young’s pitbulls, the faces pulled out the win, before eating a ferocious beatdown. Luckily Heath and Rhino made the save, and Rhino will take on EY next week in a street fight.

Elsewhere: Rachael Ellering got one over Savannah Evans as tensions mount between Ellering & Grace and the new Fire ’N’ Flava. Trey Miguel and Steve Maclin brawled backstage as their feud over the X Division title continued. And Scott D’Amore will reveal the competitors in the first ever women’s Ultimate X match next week.

Results:

  • Chris Sabin def. Matthew Rehwoldt
  • JONAH def. Jai Vidal
  • Rachael Ellering def. Savannah Evans
  • Rich Swann & Willie Mack def. VBD
  • Matt Cardona & Eddie Edwards def. Moose & W. Morrissey
