IMPACT Wrestling Results - December 30, 2021: Best Of 2021 Part 2

More awards and a big reveal!

Instead of a traditional professional wrestling show, Scott D'Amore and Josh Matthews hosted part two of the Best of 2021 on December 30.

Thursday's episode showcased some of the best matches of the year throughout the episode including Moose vs. Eddie Edwards from Turning Point, The IInspiration vs. Decay's Rosemary and Havok from Bound For Glory, Kenny Omega vs. Sami Callihan from Slammiversary, the Men's Ultimate X Match - also from Slammiversary, and Rich Swann vs. Moose from Sacrifice.

None of those contests would win the Match of the Year Award, though, as that honour would go to Josh Alexander and TJP's classic 60-minute Ironman Match for the X-Division Title from the June 3rd episodes of BTI and IMPACT Wrestling. Neither man could be separated and the 60-minute time limit expired with them tied at one fall apiece. They, therefore, continued into sudden death until Alexander managed to pick up the win and retain the gold.

Match of the Year wasn't Josh Alexander's only award of the evening as he was also named IMPACT's Wrestler of the Year. The Walking Weapon then cut a promo noting it was an honour to receive the award, especially since Kenny Omega had been IMPACT World Champion in 2021 and other big names had worked in the promotion.

In the third and final award given out on IMPACT, Jordynne Grace and Rachael Ellering were named Knockouts Tag Team of the Year. Christian Cage's IMPACT World Title win was also revealed to be IMPACT's top social media post of the year.

Several segments and promos were interspersed throughout the episode as well. Early in the show, The IInspiration and The Influence bickered backstage due to a scheduling conflict and Kaleb with a K took offence after Jessica McKay and Cassie Lee revealed Jai with an I was their photographer. Eddie Edwards, Rich Swann, Willie Mack, Heath and Rhino also cut a promo about their Hard To Kill Hardcore War Match against Violent By Design and The Good Brothers.

Elsewhere, a vignette revealed Masha Slamovich would debut on January 6 and Mercedes Martinez later challenged Deonna Purrazzo to a match on next week's show ahead of Hard To Kill on January 8. That wasn't all for Purrazzo, though, as Scott D'Amore announced The Virtuosa would challenge Rok-C for the ROH Women's Title on January 13.

Finally, IMPACT went off the air with a promo from Kimber Lee and Brandi Lauren during which they talked about failing to provide 'Mother' Su Yung with the souls she needs. Yung then appeared and zapped Lee and Lauren with lightning, seemingly killing them, before the two-time Knockouts Champion revealed she was pregnant.
