Incorrect Report Leads To 'Chuckles' At WWE HQ

A few 'ho ho hos' at WWE HQ over a Dave Meltzer report in time for Christmas

A recent report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter drew plenty of laughter at WWE HQ in Stamford, Connecticut.

It was initially claimed in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that only 7,805 tickets had been distributed for WWE Elimination Chamber, which is set to take place at Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia on February 24, 2024. The initial report shocked many as the stadium holds 61,266 fans but the reporting turned out to be incorrect, with WrestleTix noting they believe Meltzer read the wrong number on one of their spreadsheets.

Meltzer has since amended the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, noting in excess of 30,000 tickets have been distributed for Elimination Chamber.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful also confirmed this, while also revealing the initial number of 7,805 generated some chuckles at WWE HQ.

"I followed up on this, and it caught some chuckles at WWE HQ. But I got some more info. According to internal live event ticketing reports that some staff has access to, the show is already north of 30K tickets sold. They're sending Rhea Ripley and Dom to do media in Perth this week too. That would put it as one of their biggest shows as far as tickets outside of WrestleMania," Sean Ross Sapp tweeted.

In the latest figure, Mike Johnson of PWInsider has reported that over 45,000 tickets have, in fact, already been distributed for Elimination Chamber. Talent will be sent to Australia in the near future to do promotional work to push the pay-per-view.
