Janel Grant's lawsuit against Vince McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis is no longer paused after the United States Southern District for New York informed attorneys for Grant on December 11 that they would be allowing the stay on the case to expire. Federal prosecutors will continue their criminal investigation while Grant proceeds with her civil case.

Janel Grant's attorney Ann Callis issued the following statement to Cultaholic:

"We are pleased that prosecutors for the Southern District of New York have concluded that they can continue their criminal investigation while we bring forward new evidence in our civil case about the sexual exploitation carried out by Janel Grant's abusers. For the last six months, Ms. Grant has patiently waited to hold Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE accountable for the sex trafficking and abuse she endured at the company on a near daily basis. Her wait is over, and we now look forward to sharing Ms. Grant's story."

Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis in January 2024, accusing McMahon of sex trafficking, sexual assault and physical and emotional abuse. WWE are accused of trying to cover up the allegations against Vince McMahon, and John Laurinaitis is accused of sexual assault.

The lawsuit was paused in June 2024 until December following a request from the United States Department of Justice as federal prosecutors for the Southern District of New York have been investigating allegations of sex trafficking and sexual misconduct against Vince McMahon dating back to the 1980s since 2022.

A grand jury subpoena served to Vince McMahon noted that he had signed nondisclosure agreements with several women. Outside of Janel Grant, McMahon signed NDAs with a WWE contractor who McMahon allegedly sexually harassed and sent unsolicited nudes to, a former WWE wrestler who McMahon allegedly coerced into performing oral sex, a former spa manager who was allegedly sexually assaulted by McMahon, former WWE referee Rita Chatterton who accused McMahon of rape, and a former WWE employee who was allegedly demoted after ending an affair with John Laurinaitis.

Janel Grant's lawsuit led to Vince McMahon's resignation as TKO Executive Chairman after sponsors began to withdraw their support from WWE. McMahon is no longer involved with the day-to-day running of WWE but he remains a TKO shareholder and recently met for breakfast with TKO President Mark Shapiro.
