Jeff Hardy Suspended Without Pay By AEW

Jeff Hardy has been suspended by AEW

Following his arrest on Monday morning, All Elite Wrestling have suspended Jeff Hardy without pay and the former TNA World Heavyweight Champion will only be allowed to return to the promotion "upon successfully completing treatment and maintaining his sobriety."

AEW President Tony Khan issued the following statement:

"We were able to resume contact with Jeff Hardy this afternoon. AEW does not condone Jeff's alleged behavior. We've made it clear to Jeff that we'll assist him in getting treatment for substance abuse issues, which he has indicated that he's open to receiving. In the interim, he is suspended without pay, and he can only return to AEW upon successfully completing treatment and maintaining his sobriety. If you or a loved one needs help, please reach out to SAMHSA's National Helpline: 1-800-622-Help (4357)."

Hardy was arrested at 9:54 am on Monday morning in Florida on charges of DUI, driving with a revoked or suspended license, and violating restrictions placed on his licence. This came after police received four calls about an impaired driver and Jeff was pulled over along I-95, with the police report stating he was weaving across lanes and driving "significantly under the speed limit." Upon taking a breathalyser test, Hardy's readings were over three times above the legal limit.

A video of Hardy's arrest revealed he admitted to drinking double shots of Fireball before he drove his vehicle. The 44-year-old also noted he had an upcoming doctor's appointment for a brain scan. Hardy was recently "knocked loopy" at the Double Or Nothing pay-per-view on May 29 and he was said to be "a mess" before the show.

The Hardys were scheduled to challenge for the AEW World Tag Team Titles in a Three-Way Ladder Match on Wednesday's episode of Dynamite with Jurassic Express and The Young Bucks. Dave Meltzer reported that the new match has not been fully decided but the most likely bout is Jurassic Express vs. The Young Bucks vs. The Lucha Brothers.
