Jey Uso lifts the World heavyweight Championship as a referee raises his arm

Jey Uso is the new World Heavyweight Champion with victory over GUNTHER at WWE WrestleMania 41 Night One.

‘Main Event’ Jey walked into his second ever singles match at the ‘Showcase of the Immortals’ with an uphill battle on his hands, but did the unthinkable by defeating GUNTHER and ending ‘Der Ring General’s record setting reign at 259 days, Uso becoming the fifth World Heavyweight Champion in the title’s lineage.

Opening up Night One of WrestleMania 41, a fired up Uso settled into an early lead, sending the champ to the floor on several occasions and even hitting a Hogan/Andre bodyslam for good measure despite it looking as though he may have injured his arm during the opening exchanges. GUNTHER soon took control, unleashing several trademark chops to keep the challenger at bay.

Uso absorbed everything GUNTHER threw at him, kicking out of a powerbomb, then somehow absorbing a belt shot to the face and a big GUNTHER splash to keep the fight going. The champ was relentless, peppering Uso with chop after chop, but Jey laughed them off to hit a powerbomb of his own, a superkick, spear, three Uso splashes, and a grapevined sleeper to get the win and the title as GUNTHER tapped.

Post-match, Jimmy Uso came to the ring to celebrate with his twin brother, as the Yeet Era officially took flight.
