Jim Ross has announced that he will undergo another brain surgery on Wednesday, October 7 to address an issue with his shunt.

The legendary commentator noted on X/Twitter: "Getting another brain surgery Wednesday morning to address an issue with my shunt. Positive thoughts appreciated. Thanks."

Jim Ross underwent brain shunt surgery on August 12, 2026, to remove excess fluid on his brain which had affected JR's memory and resulted in a month-long stay in hospital earlier in the year. The surgery involved a thin tube being implanted in Ross' brain, which allowed excess cerebrospinal fluid to flow through the shunt to another part of the body where the fluid was then absorbed into the blood.

Ross noted a couple of weeks after the surgery that he had been suffering from "prominent and bad" headaches as a result of the procedure. He also suffered a fall.

Ross has suffered from numerous health issues in recent years, including undergoing treatment for skin cancer, with Ross announcing he was cancer-free in the summer of 2025.

The legendary announcer remains a part of All Elite Wrestling. He joined the company in 2019 and the 74-year-old is an AEW original.

Everyone at Cultaholic sends their best wishes to Jim Ross ahead of his latest surgery.
