Legendary pro wrestling announcer Jim Ross has undergone successful cancer surgery.

The All Elite Wrestling commentator underwent a procedure to address cancer on his right hip on February 1, with Ross himself posting an update on his condition to X/Twitter:

“Had cancer surgery this morning on my right hip. All went well. Thanks for all your love & support!” posted Ross.

Ross revealed in October 2021 that he was dealing with skin cancer, with the WWE Hall of Famer undergoing over 20 radiation treatments before revealing he was cancer free in December 2021. Since then, JR has been undergoing wound treatment due to the radiation treatments, missing chunks of time from AEW as a result.

JR originally signed with AEW in 2019, and subsequently signed a contract extension with Tony Khan’s organisation in 2022. Ross’ current deal is set to expire on February 14 2024, but Ross has stated his intentions to finish his career with AEW, and wants to call Sting’s last ever match at AEW Revolution on March 3 2024 alongside Tony Schiavone, with the two having worked together back in WCW, calling countless Sting matches in the organisation.
