John Cena Returns To WWE TV On Christmas Day Raw

Merry Christmas, everyone...

John Cena will return to WWE television on the Christmas Day Raw.

WWE.com is now officially advertising the 16-time World Champion to appear on the show, which emanates from Chicago.

Cena is also advertised to appear on the December 26 house show at Madison Square Garden in a match with Roman Reigns, with the Intercontinental Championship on the line. Even though such a monumental appearance won't be left to chance, I guess it's always good to remember that cards are subject to change. You never know...

The leader of the Cenation last appeared in a WWE ring representing SmackDown Live at Survivor Series, bowing out of the traditional five-on-five elimination tag match fourth via an Angle Slam by Raw GM Kurt Angle. He's been missing from television since, so with his return happening on Raw, it's going to be interesting to see how he's brought back into the fold. Will he come back looking for revenge on the red brand, or will this be just one of those occasions where we should all be grateful Almighty John is gracing us with his presence. Apologies, that sounds a tad petty, but you all know what I mean.

You'd have to think that whatever Cena ends up doing an interaction with Roman Reigns will be involved. WWE generally like to keep their house show matches loosely related to what's happening on their television shows, so with The Big Dog putting his belt on the line the next night - and with the house show taking place in prestigious settings at MSG, no less - maybe an angle to set up the contest could take place.

WWE's televised festive specials are set to take place on Christmas Day (Raw), December 26 (SmackDown Live), New Year's Day (Raw), and January 2 (SmackDown Live). This is the first time since 2006 that WWE's main weekly shows have fallen on the end of year holidays.
