Professional wrestling and politics in the United States are heavily integrated in 2025. WWE Hall of Famer Donald Trump is currently serving as president of the United States, while former WWE CEO Linda McMahon is Trump's education secretary. WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H and Stephanie McMahon also recently met with United States Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to discuss the President's Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition.

Reigning Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena has ruled out stepping into politics, however. After being asked on the red carpet ahead of the release of his new movie, Heads of State, if the film was a soft launch for John Cena the real-life president, the 48-year-old was emphatic in his response to On Demand Entertainment with, "Not a chance."

Cena portrays US President Will Derringer in Heads of State, which was released on Amazon Prime Video on July 2. Cena stars in the movie alongside Idris Elba as UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke, which sees them team up to thwart a global conspiracy.

While John Cena may have ruled out a future run to become president, The Rock noted in 2023 that he was still open to serving as president of the United States.
