John Cena is set to make his first major WWE appearance since retiring in December 2025, with the multi-time WWE Champion set to host WrestleMania 42.

Since ending his career with a loss to Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13 2025, Cena has not featured on any major WWE broadcasts but revealed on X/Twitter that he is set to host the upcoming two-night ‘showcase of the immortals’ on April 18 and 19 in Las Vegas:

“Ah, retired life in the sun. I’m kidding! Check out the backdrop. I’m shooting a movie for Netflix called ‘One Attempt Remaining’ which you can see when it comes out. I’m also on the road which is ironic cause there’s a road to WrestleMania going on. And, Hollywood is really close to Vegas. Rumour around this town is WrestleMania needs a host. Well, I’m already on that road so I will see you at WrestleMania,” Cena said in a short video.

Cena’s last WrestleMania appearance came one years ago at WrestleMania XLI, with a then heel Cena controversially defeating Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship with help from Travis Scott.
