John Cena is a 17-time world champion, having defeated Cody Rhodes to win the Undisputed WWE Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 41.
Cena hit Cody Rhodes with four Attitude Adjustments during the match but that wasn't enough to win. The finish featured two ref bumps, though, including one after Travis Scott pulled the official out of the ring when Rhodes had the match won.
After Cody took out Scott with a Cross Rhodes, Cena looked to use the WWE Title belt against Rhodes, but the champion wrestled the belt away. Stupidly, Rhodes then didn't use the belt against Cena, so the 47-year-old kicked his opponent in the testicles and smashed him across the head with the belt.
This was enough for the win as the referee counted the 1-2-3 for Cena as he became a record-breaking 17-time world champion.
Cena won his first world title 20 years ago at WrestleMania 21, defeating JBL for the WWE Championship. Cena’s last world title win before WrestleMania 41 was Royal Rumble 2017 when Big Match John beat AJ Styles.
Cena main evented WrestleMania 41 courtesy of his Elimination Chamber win. Cena turned heel following his Chamber win, turning to the dark side for the first time since late 2003, as he aligned with The Rock after Cody told Dwayne Johnson to “go f*ck himself.” The Rock did not appear at WrestleMania 41, however.
