The next time we see John/Johnny Hennigan/Nitro/Morrison/Mundo/Impact, it could possibly be with a last name other than "Impact". The former Impact Wrestling World champion lost to X Division titlist Rich Swann last night at Slammiversary in Dallas, and may have finished up with the promotion.

The 39-year-old's contract with Impact Wrestling expired several weeks ago,

according to PWInsider

, though he agreed to stay on through the pay-per-view in order to conclude his angle with Swann.

While the two sides are in talks to continue their working relationship, Hennigan is currently a free agent, able to sign elsewhere.

Hennigan debuted for Impact Wrestling in August 2017. He previously worked for WWE from his time as a contestant on Tough Enough III in 2002, through his departure in November 2011. During his time with the company, Hennigan held multiple Intercontinental and Tag Team belts, the latter reigns with Joey Mercury and The Miz, and also held the ECW championship for three months in 2007.

Hennigan's wife Taya Valkyrie is still Impact's Knockouts champion, and her contract reportedly runs through the end of 2019.
