Jonathan Gresham Stripped Of PROGRESS World Title

Jonathan Gresham has been stripped of the PROGRESS World Title

A new PROGRESS World Champion will need to be crowned after Jonathan Gresham was stripped of the title at Sunday's Chapter 134 event in London, England.

The Octopus was scheduled to defend the gold against Gene Munny in the main event of Sunday's show with the stipulation being that Munny would qualify for the upcoming Super Strong Style 16 tournament if he could win the championship.

Before the match, though, Lykos Gym attacked Munny which resulted in management adding a stipulation to the match whereby Gresham would be stripped of the world title if he was disqualified. Lykos Gym then made their presence felt once the match got underway as they attacked Munny in front of the official, leading to the PROGRESS World Championship being vacated.

Gresham had been world champion for just under two months, since he defeated Cara Noir in a Title vs. Title Match at Chapter 130 on March 20. The Octopus has been a regular at PROGRESS shows since the promotion resumed live events earlier this year.

Gresham is also the reigning ROH World Champion and has appeared in All Elite Wrestling since Tony Khan purchased Ring Of Honor.
