Cody Rhodes played a pivotal role in the creation of AEW, standing alongside members of The Elite and serving as an EVP for several years before his eventual exit and move over to WWE. In his role as EVP, Rhodes did more than the bare minimum when it came to helping out the other talents on the roster, including lending a helping hand to former TBS Champion Julia Hart.

When speaking during a Virtual Signing for Highspots, Hart discussed her early days in AEW, and revealed that Rhodes paid for her ring gear when she was still an extra.

“So my first outfit I had, it was like a blue and silver and it didn’t fit me very well and it wasn’t as high-quality as this one was which Ms. Sandra (Gray) made me. Cody (Rhodes) also helped me pay for it because I also wasn’t signed at the time and wasn’t making any money to have some good, quality gear so shout out. I think I was still getting paid as an extra at one point. I didn’t get an on-deal till like… I was getting paid for an extra for a while… Cody believed in me, Sandra believed in me and they helped me get good gear and I appreciate them for it…”

Hart made her debut back in 2021 despite wrestling less than ten matches in her whole career. She has been injured for much of 2024, but recent reports and comments suggest she could be back in the mix soon.
