Jun Akiyama Wants Match With Eddie Kingston

Jun Akiyama vs. Eddie Kingston grows more likely

A lover of the King's Road style of professional wrestling, Eddie Kingston has made it known for at least the past year that he wants to go one-on-one with Jun Akiyama, reiterating his desire to face the unofficial Fifth Pillar of Heaven in several interviews.

Akiyama had yet to comment on a possible match but he broke his silence while speaking to Monthly Puroresu and the DDT star revealed he wants to face The Mad King.

"I'm just glad to say that there are many people who still want to wrestle me even at this age. I'd want to go against Eddie Kingston," Akiyama laughed.

Akiyama has carved out a legendary career for himself over the last 30 years and he is a three-time GHC Heavyweight Champion and two-time AJPW Triple Crown Champion. The 52-year-old currently performs for DDT Pro-Wrestling, having transferred to the promotion in 2020.

If Akiyama and Kingston will ever face each other inside the squared circle ultimately remains to be seen. AEW and DDT Pro-Wrestling do have a working relationship, though, and Konosuke Takeshita is currently on excursion from DDT in All Elite Wrestling.
