Kairi Sane officially became a free agent after her WWE non-compete clause expired at midnight on July 24 and the former WWE NXT Women's Champion has yet to sign with a new promotion.
Fightful Select has reported that Kairi Sane has not signed anywhere as of yet and she is "actively evaluating her future." There is interest in Sane from a number of companies, including for non-contract appearances. Sane was not backstage at AEW's Redemption pay-per-view or Marigold over the weekend. She is represented by super agent Barry Bloom.
Kairi Sane was released by WWE in April following WrestleMania 42 along with around 30 wrestlers. Reports have claimed a motivating factor behind Sane's release was that Sane had indicated she wanted to move back to Japan.
There was a backlash to Kairi Sane's release from WWE fans, with '#WeWantKairi' trending on social media, while there were chants in support of Kairi Sane during segments featuring Asuka and IYO SKY. WWE did not bring Sane back, however, unlike with the R-Truth situation in the summer of 2025.
Across her two WWE runs, Kairi Sane became a one-time NXT Women's Champion, 2017 Mae Young Classic winner, and three-time WWE Women's Tag Team Champion with Asuka as the Kabuki Warriors.
