WWE Legend and sure-to-be Hall of Famer Kane has revealed that his character was only supposed to have one WWE match against The Undertaker. The Big Red Machine appeared on Jerry Lawler's 'Dinner With The King' podcast to explain how WWE were only looking for a new opponent for The Deadman, with no plans ahead of that in the offing.

“Initially, they were going to hot-shot the whole thing and they needed it to be a one-match deal for [Undertaker] to have an opponent," Kane said.

"Vince liked the storyline so much that he didn’t just want to do one match, he thought that he could make it a really good story out of it.”

Upon hearing this news you'd have to believe Glenn Jacobs - the man under and then not under the mask - was torn. Yes facing The Undertaker was a massive deal, but Kane was his third gimmick in two years with WWE, following on from Lawler's personal dentist, Isaac Yankem, and the fake Diesel.

Luckily, Kane and 'Taker's story was arguably the most layered and compelling in WWE history, shooting the-now politician off into superstardom and one of the most storied careers for a single character ever.

While it looks like Kane's immediate future is away from the squared circle, he hasn't ruled out a return to action one day. His last singles match for WWE was on 26 March on Raw against John Cena, before he was a part of the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34.
