Kenny Omega Defeats Jon Moxley To Become AEW World Champion

And his next appearance is an interesting one...

Kenny Omega is the new AEW World Heavyweight champion, defeating Jon Moxley in the main event of the special "Winter is Coming" edition of AEW Dynamite.

The ending saw Omega receive an assist from close friend and Impact Wrestling EVP Don Callis. During an injury spot in which Omega was hit with a Paradigm Shift into a large heater on the floor, Callis tried to intervene, only to be struck by Moxley. In the process, Callis covertly passed off a microphone to Omega, who struck Moxley in the head with it.

Following several V-Triggers to a bloody Moxley, Omega finished him with the One Winged Angel to capture the title.

After the match, Omega and Callis ran out of Daily's Place together, but were briefly stopped by interviewer Alex Marvez before they drove away. In his brief promo, Callis teased an appearance by new champion Omega on this Tuesday night's episode of Impact Wrestling.

The loss is Moxley's first pinfall or submission defeat of any kind in AEW. His reign as champion ends at 277 days, having begun at AEW Revolution on February 29.
