Kenny Omega Vs. Christian Cage Impact World Title Match Set For AEW Rampage

The first match in Rampage history

As it stands right now, Kenny Omega will defend the AEW World Heavyweight title against Christian Cage at All Out on September 5. But it won't be the first World title match between the two.

It was announced on Wednesday night's Dynamite in Pittsburgh that Omega will wrestle Cage on the premiere of AEW Rampage this Friday night (also in Pittsburgh) in a match for the Impact Wrestling World title.

It was also announced that that match will kick off Friday night's Rampage telecast.

Omega has reigned as Impact World champion since April 25, after defeating Rich Swann in a title vs. title match at Impact Rebellion.

As a part of what was then Total Nonstop Action, Cage previously held the NWA World Heavyweight title on two occasions, shortly before Impact officially introduced the Impact World title in 2007.

Also announced in the segment is a match for the AEW World Tag Team titles taking place on next Wednesday's Dynamite, as The Young Bucks will defend their championships against Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus of Jurassic Express.
