Kenny Omega Was Close To 50% Chance Of Dying From Diverticulitis

Things could've been fatal for Kenny Omega if he didn't get diagnosed when he did

Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega was recently taken off AEW television, being resigned to a hospital bed after being diagnosed with diverticulitis, ruling him out of action for the foreseeable future.

It had previously been noted that Omega had been in pain for a while, even prior to competing in a singles match earlier this month against Ethan Page, but he put it down to previously dealing with a hernia. He struggled for several weeks until the pain got too much and he went to a doctor, eventually being diagnosed.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that when Omega was diagnosed, he was told that “he was very lucky he went in because the situation could have been catastrophic.” Omega was under the threat of getting a blood infection, and that if he had waited any longer to get looked at, there could have been a 50% chance of death. It was good that Omega got looked at when he did, as things were approaching a very severe level. Omega is now thankfully on the road to recovery after months of struggle and pain.
