Kurt Angle Surprised By Samoa Joe's WWE Release

Angle believes Joe would have been a good challenger for Bobby Lashley's WWE Title

On the latest episode of The Kurt Angle Show, The Wrestling Machine admitted he was surprised by Samoa Joe's WWE release.

After being asked if his matches with The Samoan Submission Machine were his best in TNA, Angle said they were before addressing Joe's release.

"Without a doubt, him or AJ Styles. Samoa Joe was a lot more physical. We had a more physical type of match. AJ was more athletic. Joe was a very intense individual and I'm surprised they released him. Especially with Bobby Lashley right now, they need some guys to go up against Bobby and I thought Samoa Joe would be a great person to represent that spot, but unfortunately, they did let him go and I'm not sure why," Angle stated.

Samoa Joe was let go by WWE last week after a six-year run with the company. The former NXT Champion suffered back to back concussions in early 2020 and hasn't stepped inside the squared circle since. He reportedly expressed his desire to return to the ring early last week but was not cleared to wrestle by WWE.
