Kurt Angle Thinks WWE 'Missed The Boat' On AEW Star

Kurt Angle wanted WWE to do more with an AEW star

Kurt Angle believes WWE should have done more with an AEW star.

Speaking on his podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer revealed he believes that WWE "missed the boat" on Claudio Castagnoli, noting that the former Cesaro should have been a five-time world champion by the time he left the company in early 2022.

"He [Claudio Castagnoli] should have been a five-time world champion before he left WWE. Not once did they give him the world title. I'm really surprised because that kid can do it all in the ring. He is the pound-for-pound strongest wrestler I've ever seen. The stuff he does in that ring is incredible...He's Superman. He's the real-life Superman," Angle said.

Castagnoli was a popular member of the WWE roster with fans, who wanted to see him pushed as a main eventer. Outside of a brief stint in 2021, though, Cesaro was utilised as a mid-carder or in the tag team division.

Castagnoli has since signed with All Elite Wrestling and he became a world champion at July's Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view, defeating Jonathan Gresham for the ROH World Title. He has since dropped the belt to Chris Jericho.
