KUSHIDA's NJPW Return Match Revealed
KUSHIDA back in action for NJPW next week
Following his return to New Japan Pro-Wrestling on June 21, KUSHIDA will face the man he confronted - IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Taiji Ishimori - in trios action in The Time Splitter's return match.
NJPW announced today that KUSHIDA will return to a New Japan ring on July 3 as part of the promotion's New Japan Road tour and he will team with Hiroshi Tanahashi and Alex Zayne to take on KENTA (who is making his own return to the ring), Taiji Ishimori, and Gedo.
Tanahashi and KUSHIDA previously went one-on-one in KUSHIDA's final NJPW match of his first run in January 2019. Alex Zayne's final WWE match, meanwhile, was against The Time Splitter.
Following the return match on July 3, KUSHIDA and Tanahashi will team together again on July 4 to face KENTA and Taiji Ishimori. The New Japan Road tour will then end with a trios match pitting KUSHIDA, Tanahashi, and Jado against KENTA, Ishimori, and Gedo.
Prior to his return, KUSHIDA performed in NJPW from 2010 until 2019. He is a six-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and two-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion. The Time Splitter competed for WWE during his three years away from NJPW, solely on the company's NXT brand.
