KUSHIDA To Wrestle Hiroshi Tanahashi In Final NJPW Match

New IWGP Heavyweight Champion seeing his pal out the door...

Earlier this week it was announced that KUSHIDA will be leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling at the end of the month.

Now, it has been announced that the former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion's last match with the company will be against new IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi at Road to The New Beginning on January 29 at Korakuen Hall.

The match was made after KUSHIDA's comments at the press conference put on to announce his departure, where he said that his only regret in NJPW is the fact that he never got to step into the ring with Tana.

Tanahashi actually appeared at KUSHIDA's going away press conference to ask a question: “What was enjoyable within New Japan Pro-Wrestling and what was painful? Please let me know if there is something,” The Ace said – making KUSHIDA cry in the process.

“Nothing was painful,” replied KUSHIDA. “Mr. Tanahashi, you are scary. After all, I love wrestling, so I can not have a difficult life in professional wrestling, because I even enjoy the difficult times. When I think about it altogether, this has been the best environment I’ve been in. Also, there were the fans, it has been a really good year for me as a professional wrestler.”
