Matt Riddle has been pulled from an upcoming convention appearance following comments he made this week about the MeToo movement.
Cultaholic exclusively reported on Wednesday that Riddle no-showed Global Wrestling Kingdom's inaugural show in Barnsley, England on Sunday, August 31 and was replaced by Grado. Riddle was scheduled to face Simon Miller at the show and had been advertised for the event for months. The show was raising money for the charities Help 4 Homeless Veterans and Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide, something that was announced in mid-July.
Riddle addressed missing the show on Wednesday, later embarking upon a profanity-filled tirade on X/Twitter. Riddle said, in part:
"You know, I can explain everything in great detail. I'm not lying, but I really don't give a f*ck anymore. Most of you motherf*ckers are dumb f*cking c*nts. Just like when you believe that MeToo bullsh*t, all the other f*cking garbage. You guys are all f*cking dumb and it's f*cking insane. It's f*cking insane. F*cking believe these f*cking creeps. Whatever, dog.
"At the end of the day, I'm gonna keep getting booked, I'm probably gonna start fighting again. I'm probably gonna do a lot of other sh*t. F*cking crushing it on OnlyFans because I’ve got a big f*cking you know what, and I'm nice as f*ck, dude. Everybody, if you don’t like me, unfollow. Go f*ck yourselves. I don’t give a f*ck because at the end of the day, the cream f*cking rises to the top and I’m really, really f*cking tired of trying to be nice to everybody because I hate to break it to you, most of you guys are f*cking morons. Peace."
SiouxperCon, a convention in Sioux Falls, South Dakota from September 19 to September 21, announced on Facebook they have cancelled Riddle's appearance due to his comments.
"In light of recent public statements made by Matt Riddle regarding the topics of SA and DV, SiouxperCon has made the decision to cancel his appearance at this year's convention. The statements that were made in no way represent our organization or event, and are not aligned with the mission, vision, and values of our organization," the convention wrote.
"Fans that have purchased photo ops in advance for Matt Riddle will be automatically refunded this week to their original form of payment.
"SiouxperCon has always strived to be a safe and inclusive space and event for all to feel welcome, including those that have been affected by SA and DV. This is why we, along with New Sound Wrestling, will be donating 10% of the proceeds from all SiouxperMania tickets sold to The Compass Center to support the work they do in our community for survivors and victims."
As of the time of publication, Riddle has not commented on his appearance being cancelled.
The former WWE Superstar was previously accused of sexual assault by Candy Cartwright (real name Samantha Tavel) during the Speaking Out movement in 2020, which led to a lawsuit being filed by Cartwright in October of that year.
Tavel alleged Matt Riddle sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions between April 2017 and January 2020. Riddle denied the allegations but admitted to having an affair with Tavel.
The lawsuit was dropped in July 2021, with Tavel's lawyer John Chwarzynski noting at the time that, "The parties have put this in their past and are focused on the future."
