Matt Striker To Miss Several Episodes Of IMPACT Wrestling

Josh Mathews returns to the commentary table

As seen on Thursday night’s edition of IMPACT Wrestling, lead play-by-play announcer Matt Striker was absent from the show, with Josh Mathews filling in on the commentary desk alongside permanent colour commentator D’Lo Brown.

It has been said that Striker is currently away ‘on assignment’ and that Mathews would be covering for a few weeks, with Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer stating that Striker was ‘unavailable for the tapings dates but is expected to return at the next set of tapings’.

Mathews was originally IMPACT’s full-time play-by-play commentator until being promoted to the role of Senior Producer in January 2021. Striker stepped into said role in January, and despite his current absence, is still a member of the IMPACT Wrestling announce team.

With each round of IMPACT tapings consisting of four shows, don’t be expecting Striker back on screens until sometime near the end of June 2021, if he does indeed make the next round of shows.
