Mei Ying To Make WWE NXT In-Ring Debut Next Week

Since making her NXT debut on January 13, Mei Ying has remained out of the ring and she has spent much of her time watching Xia Li and Boa's matches from a throne on the entrance ramp. 

That is set to change next week, though, and WWE announced during the August 31 edition of NXT that Mei Ying will make her in-ring debut on the September 7 show. 

Mei Ying has been portrayed by Karen Q since the character's debut and it will also be the first time she has stepped in an NXT ring. Q has not wrestled at all since July 2019 following a knee injury and she hasn't competed on WWE programming since the 2018 Mae Young Classic when she was defeated by her, now, fellow stablemate Xia Li. 

Several other matches were also set for next week's NXT. The full card is as follows:

• Io Shirai & Zoey Stark (c) vs. Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter - NXT Women's Tag Team Championship
