Mercedes Martinez Signs With AEW, Appears On Dynamite

One more debut for the TNT era of Dynamite

Mercedes Martinez debuted for AEW on Wednesday night's "New Year's Smash" edition of Dynamite in Jacksonville.

Late in the TBS Women's title semifinal match between Thunder Rosa and Jade Cargill, Rosa was sent head-first into the bottom turnbuckle. There, Martinez (disguised with a hood and a facemask) charged up to Rosa at ringside and struck her with some sort of glass object. Cargill finished off Rosa with Jaded moments later.

Rosa attacked Cargill after the match, prompting Martinez to rush the ring to jump Rosa once more. After laying Rosa out, Martinez removed the hood and mask for the reveal, before assisting Cargill in beating Rosa down. Ruby Soho then hit the ring with a lead pipe to run off both heels.

Following the segment, Tony Khan tweeted the standard "is All Elite" welcoming graphic.

Martinez was released from WWE on August 6, after a year and a half tenure that included brief membership of the group Retribution. Since leaving WWE, Martinez has been active in organizations such as IMPACT, SHIMMER, Game Changer Wrestling, and others.

Martinez previously made two appearances in AEW, one of which was as part of the Casino Women's Battle Royale at All Out 2019.

Soho vs. Cargill in the finals for the TBS championship is set for next week in Newark.
