Mercedes Moné Was "Very Nervous" Before AEW Double Or Nothing Debut

Mercedes Moné was nervous ahead of her in-ring debut, according to fellow AEW wrestler

After months of build, Mercedes Moné finally made her in-ring AEW debut at the Double Or Nothing 2024 PPV, defeating Willow Nightingale to become the brand new TBS Champion. She would also follow this up with a title defence on AEW Dynamite against Skye Blue.

Despite showcasing confidence in her entrance, performance, and more, Moné was supposedly a little bit more uncertain than she let on prior to the match. As revealed by fellow AEW wrestler Thunder Rosa on ‘Busted Open Radio’, Moné felt the nerves before going out there to compete.

"She was very, very nervous before the match. This match was so important to her on a personal level because of the severity of her injury, and when it comes within your psyche, knowing that when she got injured that was it, she was not going to be able to wrestle. The fact that she was able to wrestle at the level that she did on Sunday, and she proved to herself that she still can do this and does it at a level that people wish they could."

In the end, the match delivered with Moné shrugging off any ring rust she had instantly. It was recently revealed that AEW held off her debut to make it a much bigger deal, though this wait will not have helped with the nerves building.
