WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley has responded to Roman Reigns' comments about CM Punk.
The Universal Champion was recently asked about WWE booking returning part-time stars like John Cena in main event spots and Reigns used the opportunity to take a shot at CM Punk, claiming The Straight Edge Superstar "was not as good or as over" as Cena or The Rock.
Mick Foley has defended Punk, though, writing: "CM PUNK WAS DAMN GOOD, AND DAMN OVER. With one interview he changed the course of the wrestling business. He had great matches with a wide variety of opponents on a nightly basis. When/if he returns to wrestling, he will once again be damn good and damn over. @CMPunk."
Foley and CM Punk previously had a short rivalry in late 2012 and they were originally scheduled to be team captains in the traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match at the November pay-per-view.
Reigns and Foley's comments about Punk have emerged ahead of the 42-year-old's expected return to wrestling at the August 20 edition of AEW Rampage from Chicago's United Center.
