Mickie James Confirms She Needs ACL Surgery

Bad break for the veteran...

It was previously reported that Mickie James suffered an apparent knee injury on Saturday night, while wrestling Carmella at a live event in Waco, TX. She was replaced on the following day's house show in College Station, TX by Zelina Vega.

James has confirmed via Instagram Live that after undergoing an MRI, it was determined that she injured her ACL. As a result, she will be sidelined indefinitely.

“I don’t know how long I’m gonna be out. I don’t know when I’m gonna have to get surgery, but it’s going to be awhile,” James said in the video.

The bout with Carmella marked the first match that James appeared in since the women's battle royal on the WrestleMania 35 kickoff show on April 7. Prior to the battle royal, James had not wrestled since working a six-woman tag in Saginaw, MI on February 10.

Generally, an injury to the ACL, particularly if it's torn, requires six to nine months of recovery time following surgery.

James becomes the latest in a slew of injuries for WWE, with Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy, Big E, Nia Jax, and AJ Styles among the latest to join the injured list.
