More Details Regarding AEW's First TNT Special Reportedly Emerge

AEW's first special is set for January, reportedly

Further details have reportedly emerged regarding All Elite Wrestling's plans to hold a special show on TNT in early January.

As previously reported, AEW are planning on holding the first of their four special shows on TNT in 2022 on Saturday 8 January 2022, just a week after the promotion's new deals with networks TNT and TBS kick in. It is believed the event will be named 'Battle For The Belts' as a hat tip to the National Wrestling Alliance.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio has now offered more details around plans for the show, noting that the working idea is for the special to be about one hour long. This is shorter than anticipated, with it also noted that AEW had initially intended to bring pay-per-view calibre shows to TNT for these specials. However, something appears to have changed.

If Saturday 8 January is  AEW's intended date for the show then the first TNT special will follow the first episode of Dynamite of 2022 on 5 January and Rampage on 7 January.

The Saturday night TNT specials are part of the new deal AEW signed with WarnerMedia back in May. The updated agreement will see AEW Dynamite move from TNT to TBS in January.
