The state of Nevada has issued an emergency order requiring people in 12 of the state's 17 counties - including the home of WWE SummerSlam 2021 - to wear masks in public indoor spaces.
A news release shared on Tuesday - per the Reno Gazette Journal - says the mandate will become effective as of Friday morning in the counties that have a substantial or high transmission of COVID-19.
WWE is due to present SummerSlam 2021 from Allegiant Stadium on Saturday 21 August in Clark County, which is one of the 12 states that now has a mandated mask policy in public indoor spaces.
The counties included are Carson, Churchill, Clark, Douglas, Elko, Esmeralda, Lincoln, Lyon, Mineral, Nye, Washoe, and White Pine.
This means, under the current order, fans in attendance at SummerSlam in a few weeks will be required to wear a face mask.
It became required on Thursday, July 22 in Clark County that employees at businesses wear a mask when working indoors, whether they are vaccinated or not, in a bid to prevent a fourth wave of COVID-19 infections.
The state dropped a previous mask mandate in May and at the time suggested that only vaccinated people could remove their masks. The latest mandate follows an emergency directive issued in May that requires people to wear masks “in a manner consistent with current guidance issued by the CDC.”
