New Number One Contender For Charlotte Flair's WWE NXT Women's Championship Revealed

The fallout from the cancellation of NXT TakeOver: Tampa continued on last night's episode of NXT as Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa looked to settle their rivalry once and for all. Chelsea Green, Mia Yim, Tegan Nox, Dakota Kai, Io Shirai, and Candice LeRae also faced off in a Ladder match to determine the number one contender for Charlotte Flair's NXT Women's Championship. 

All six women came close to winning the match, but the bout came down to Candice LeRae and Io Shirai as the two Superstars wrote the latest chapter in their rivalry. With both women teetering on the ladder and reaching for the briefcase, The Genius Of The Sky raked LeRae's eyes and pushed her, sending her crashing to the floor. Shirai then reached up and grabbed the briefcase to become the number one contender. 

This will be Io's fourth shot at the title. She previously competed in a Fatal 4-Way at NXT TakeOver: New York, and in two singles matches against Shayna Baszler in June 2019, but lost all three contests.
