Next NXT TakeOver Announced For Bridgeport, CT

Per Triple H...

WWE's sliding puzzle of scheduling changes for the month of June, thanks to the placement of the next Saudi Arabia show on June 7, looks to finally be complete.

Triple H announced on Monday that TakeOver, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, June 8 in San Jose, will now take place on June 1 in Bridgeport, CT, at the Webster Bank Arena.

Interestingly, the event is being referred to as NXT TakeOver: XXV instead of "NXT TakeOver: Bridgeport." WWE has had a regular, albeit not always consistent, policy when it comes to openly acknowledging the smaller towns that they run televised events in.

Somewhat curiously, at the beginning of his tweet announcing the event, Triple H named many prior cities that have hosted TakeOvers, including Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, London, and others, but did not mention Bridgeport by name for this next one. Instead, he acknowledged the arena name, and called the event by its NXT TakeOver: XXV handle.

In addition to TakeOver originally being set for San Jose on June 8, WWE Backlash was scheduled for June 16 in San Diego. The movement of the Saudi Arabia show from May 3 to June 7 caused both this TakeOver, as well as Backlash (since redubbed "Stomping Grounds"), to be moved to new dates and cities (Stomping Grounds moved from San Diego to Tacoma, WA).
