Donald Trump is many things if not controversial, with the 45th President of the United States back in the news cycle ahead of a presumed run for office again later this year.
Trump is also a WWE Hall of Famer, with Trump having faced Vince McMahon in a ‘Battle of the Billionaires’ at WrestleMania 23, as well as ‘hosting’ WrestleMania IV and V in the Trump Plaza. Trump’s popularity with sections of the American voter base correlating with WWE and UFC viewership was discussed by Fox News during an interview with WWE/TKO’s Nick Khan and The Rock, with Khan saying the following:
“Red states we sell out. Blue states we sell out. It's not what we're focused on. What we're focused on is the in-ring product and how it delivers to our fans. If politicians are fans of our product, they are welcome,” said Khan.
Former WWE owner Vince McMahon was a noted Republican, with his wife Linda McMahon working in Trump’s administration as part of his Super PAC and as the administrator of the Small Business Administration from 2017 to 2019. Outside of Trump, former Republican Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger is also a WWE Hall of Famer, whilst fellow Hall of Famer Jesse Ventura became Governor of Minnesota on a Reform Party ticket in 1998.
Donald Trump managed to help Ace Steel secure a job with WWE in 2007.
