Nick Khan Believes NBCUniversal Would Be Supportive Of Edgier Third-Hour Of WWE Raw

Nick Khan on a possible edgier WWE product during the third hour of Monday Night Raw

An edgier WWE product reminiscent of the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras of TV could be on the way.

WWE announced they had agreed to be sold to Endeavor following WrestleMania 39 and WWE will merge with UFC before the end of 2023 under a new parent company. Vince McMahon will be the Executive Chairman of the new company, while Nick Khan will become the President of WWE. He is already the CEO of the organisation.

The WWE-UFC merger could prompt some changes to WWE programming and Nick Khan believes WWE Raw's TV partner in NBCUniversal would be supportive of reintroducing blood during the third hour of Monday Night show.

Khan told Lightshed Partners: "Look, when we're specifically talking about the 10 to 11 hour on Raw, we're specifically talking to NBCU and ourselves about what we do moving forward. We ask, what do we do if we tweak this? That 10 to 11 hour, it is basic cable, it's not broadcast, as you know. We think that NBCU would be supportive, but we're not on a final conclusion on that."

Blood was common on WWE TV and pay-per-views from the onset of the Attitude era in the 1990s until Vince McMahon banned talents from blading in 2008. Blood still appears on WWE programming from time to time but it is often when talents are opened hard-way, such as Finn Balor at WrestleMania 39 when he was struck by a ladder and needed 14 staples in the top of his head.
