Nick Khan Reportedly The Driving Force Behind WWE's NIL Development Program

WWE announced the scheme earlier this week

WWE President Nick Khan has reportedly been the driving force behind the promotion's recently announced NIL Program.

The WWE 'Next In Line' Program was announced on Thursday; a scheme that will aim to enhance 'the talent development process' through collaborative partnerships with college athletes.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this approach is of great appeal to Khan, who can see the potential in getting young athletes into the WWE system early.

It is noted that WWE stars such as The Rock, John Cena, Roman Reigns, Steve Austin and Big E all began their athletic careers playing American football but were not good enough to make the grade at the top level, moving into wrestling afterwards. Guys such as this in schools would fit WWE's 'money-making look', something Khan is keen to delve further into.

Jim Ross is credited at first having the idea of headhunting talent from college programs and Khan - in the NIL Program - is seeking to develop a clear pathway for these individuals into the WWE system.
