NJPW Reportedly Open To Promoting Women's Wrestling

It will be under a new company, however...

When it comes to women's wrestling over in Japan, things are done differently compared to the rest of the world. Instead of promotions housing both male and female divisions, male and female promotions exist. For example, NJPW focuses solely on men's wrestling, while the likes of STARDOM promote the women's game.

However, if a couple of reports in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter are to be believed, it looks like a monumental shift in the paradigm of Japanese wrestling could be about to happen, as Dave Meltzer believes New Japan Pro Wrestling are interested in promoting women's wrestling.

Here's what was penned in the latest WON: "It’s one of those things where they have a way of doing things, and there is interest in New Japan in women’s wrestling, but it would be a separate company the same way there is interest in kickboxing but that’s a completely different company that Bushiroad has."

Dave later mentioned that Bushiroad executives, along with SHO and YOH, attended the STARDOM show on February 17, but it's not clear exactly why they were there at the time of writing.
