Watch The Lights: A NORTH Wrestling Film has been nominated for an award.

The documentary was one of three projects nominated for the 2025 Royal Television Society North East and The Borders Awards in the Non-Broadcast Scripted and Unscripted category. The awards will be held on Saturday, February 15 at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead in Gateshead, England.

The feature-length film chronicles the behind-the-scenes preparations for NORTH's then-biggest-ever show, Thunderstruck, in the Summer of 2023. The film premiered at Tyneside Cinema in 2024 and sold out the classic venue's largest auditorium.

Director Alex Ayre said about Watch The Lights: "It's a characterful venture behind the scenes in the wild world of independent wrestling, but more than that, it's a touching journey of passionate creatives striving to succeed in their own whacky medium."

Watch The Lights will be available to stream on NORTH's Patreon page and YouTube for £5 from Friday, January 24.

NORTH Wrestling is a UK independent wrestling promotion based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. The reigning NORTH Wrestling Champion is TNA's Leon Slater and other wrestlers featured in the promotion include Gene Munny, Liam Slater, Rory Coyle, Kid Lykos, Kid Lykos II, Landed Gentry, Emersyn Jayne, and Shreddy.
