It's been a pretty incredible couple of months for Otis. First, he finally got the girl in Mandy Rose, and now he's got the men's Money in the Bank briefcase. Things are certainly looking up for the compact powerhouse.
In a recent interview with Lilian Garcia on Chasing Glory, Otis gave high praise to Performance Center coach Scott Garland (aka Scotty 2 Hotty) for helping him develop as a wrestler.
"Scotty 2 Hotty has been nothing but great help with Heavy Machinery, especially when it comes to character and timing. Little details," Otis says. "We were with him at the Performance Center for nine months and we had a blast in his class. Just learning from the master of the worm. I remember I told him, 'Scotty, this is very special to me.'
Otis, of course, co-opted Scotty's famous "Worm" maneuver into his own variation, "The Caterpillar". Otis also revealed he'd begun doing the worm dance move in elementary school, as a way to impress his classmates.
"In our send off NXT match, we were in a six-man and I said, 'We're going full Scotty.' He was the producer for that match and we had become very close. I put the hands out, did the worm and the elbow, the crowd - oh my Lord, I'll never forget that feeling. Thank you to him for allowing me to have that."
