Pat McAfee Unable To Return To WWE Due To Timing Issues

Pat McAfee on his WWE future

Pat McAfee misses WWE every day.

Discussing his WWE status during a recent Q&A session on Instagram, the 36-year-old noted that he'd like to be calling the action but can't due to timing issues.

"I had the time of my f****ing life in there, loved it, every single moment. But now my business has gotten to a point - and we're very lucky for this, I'm very lucky for this and fortunate for this, we've worked our ass off - but I'm incredibly busy. And we've got 15 employees over here that are having babies and building houses. It's a tough thing to deal with mentally because emotionally I want to be there, but I just can't timing-wise but we will figure it out," he said.

McAfee stepped away from his position as SmackDown commentator last September in order to join ESPN's College GameDay as a full-time member of the show.

He made a surprise one-off return to the announce desk at Royal Rumble, before showing up as an opponent for The Miz in an impromptu match on night one of WrestleMania 39.

The former NFL punter revealed in June that he and WWE were working on his return.
