CMLL World Women’s Champion Persephone is out of action with a legitimate injury, which is the reason she was written off AEW TV on the April 25 episode of Collision.

Persephone teamed with Alex Windsor at the special Playoff Palooza edition of Collision against Thekla and Skye Blue, but they ultimately lost to the Triangle of Madness after Julia Hart interfered to spray mist in Persephone’s face, with Blue then pinning the CMLL star for the win.

AEW CEO Tony Khan announced ahead of last week’s Collision that Persephone was injured by the mist of Julia Hart and she would be unable to compete in the Survival of the Fittest Match for the ROH Women’s World Title at Supercard of Honor on May 15 as a result of the issue.

Persephone’s injury also affected plans for AEW Double or Nothing on May 24, however, as Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that she was planned for a “big match” at the pay-per-view.

“I think they may be doing Thekla with Hayter even though it’s been done before just because the babyface women’s side has been snake-bit by injuries. Persephone, they did that angle where Persephone got the mist blown in her face. That was an injury cover. They knew she was going to be out of action so they did that to be the storyline… What I know is Persephone was going to have a big match on this pay-per-view until she got hurt. I think it probably would have been against Thekla, but she got hurt. So they need an opponent for Thekla. I don’t know that it’s going to be Hayter but the fact she came out there during Hayter’s match makes me think it’s going to be Hayter,” Meltzer stated.

Persephone made her AEW debut at Forbidden Door in August 2025. She is one of several CMLL talents signed to a dual contract with All Elite Wrestling along with the likes of Hechicero, Mistico, and Mascara Dorada.
