After years of being dormant following the folding of World Championship Wrestling in 2001, Triple H decided to revive WarGames in 2017, bringing the concept to WWE for the first time with WWE NXT WarGames.
The first couple of editions of NXT WarGames only featured one example of the namesake match before expanding to two WarGames matches from 2019. Then, with Triple H having taken over as WWE Chief Content Officer, he brought WarGames to the main roster at Survivor Series, replacing the traditional five vs. five elimination match.
WarGames now looks set to become a Survivor Series tradition for years to come.
