After an impressive debut showing in the 2024 women’s Royal Rumble, reports suggested that Jade Cargill was set to follow up by participating in the Women’s Elimination Chamber match in Perth on February 24, but plans were later changed.

It was later revealed that WWE had taken the decision to not include the former AEW TBS Champion in the match, and in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Dave Meltzer has shed some light on why WWE are not putting Cargill in the Chamber.

Whilst obviously plans can always change, Meltzer suggested that putting Cargill in a main event match that she’s not going to win would not benefit Cargill’s character or standing, with Becky Lynch widely expected to win the Chamber match and set up a Women’s World Championship clash with Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania XL.

Having Cargill lose her first big profile match would make no sense, and Meltzer suggests that WWE could instead build Cargill up for a singles match with Nia Jax at WrestleMania XL instead.

Cargill signed with WWE in 2023 after the expiration of her AEW contract. In AEW, Cargill was heavily pushed from her debut, only losing two singles bouts during her entire run in the company.
