Report: Acey Romero Requests IMPACT Wrestling Release

Romero could be leaving IMPACT

Acey Romero's time in IMPACT Wrestling may be coming to an end.

According to Fightful Select, Romero has requested his release from IMPACT. There is no word on if the promotion has accepted that request as of yet, though.

Romero hasn't appeared on IMPACT TV since the May 20 episode of BTI, where he teamed with Larry D as XXXL against Hernandez and Johnny Swinger. That match was taped back at the company's April tapings, but Romero hasn't been used by IMPACT since then.

Romero was also almost hospitalised in May after testing positive for COVID-19. He has since recovered, though, and has worked several Limitless Wrestling shows in the past few months.

Romero is reportedly under contract with IMPACT on a paid-per-appearance deal. He signed with the promotion back in October 2019 on a three-year deal during IMPACT's 'All Glory' special.

The 31-year-old formed XXXL with Larry D soon after and Romero has competed in the X Division and tag team division over the last two years.

While Romero may be leaving the promotion, Fightful noted Larry D remained under contract with IMPACT as of July.
