Report: AEW EVP Believes Cody Rhodes Has Signed With WWE

AEW EVP thinks Cody Rhodes is WWE bound

While Cody Rhodes' potential WWE return has become increasingly uncertain in recent weeks, The American Nightmare may be WWE bound after all.

Fightful Select reported that an All Elite Wrestling Executive Vice President as of last weekend "fully believed' Cody had either signed or was going to sign with WWE ahead of facing Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38. WWE producers haven't been told about an impending Rhodes debut, however.

We have previously noted that had negotiations with WWE went smoothly, Rhodes was scheduled to debut on tonight's edition of Monday Night Raw in Jacksonville, Florida, which would have kicked off the build to a WrestleMania match with Seth Rollins.

Talks between WWE and Rhodes reportedly "hit a snag", though, and the creative team had been told to hold off on working on any plans involving Rhodes until the three-time TNT Champion had signed on the dotted line.

Rhodes was previously an EVP in All Elite Wrestling and one of the founders of the promotion but he departed AEW in mid-February after failing to come to terms on a new contract.
